Codependency is a complex and often misunderstood phenomenon that can wreak havoc on relationships, both with oneself and with others. At its core, codependency is characterized by an unhealthy reliance on others for validation, self-worth, and identity. People who struggle with codependency often prioritize the needs and desires of others above their own, neglecting their own well-being in the process.

One of the most pervasive aspects of codependency is the tendency to love others more than oneself. Individuals trapped in this pattern may find themselves constantly seeking validation and approval from their partners, friends, or family members, often at the expense of their own happiness and self-esteem. They may go to great lengths to please others, even if it means sacrificing their own needs and desires.
